I was sick of wasting my stick deodorants so I came up with a nifty trick which made THREE extra roll-ons

THERE are some beauty products - like luxurious lipsticks and lovely moisturisers - that we actively enjoy buying.

But even though it's something we reach for everyday (sometimes even more!), the same can't be said for our trusty stick deodorants.

So in an effort to make hers go a bit further, savvy shopper Leanne Canning thought she'd melt down every last bit of her deodorant - and it paid off BIG time.

Posting on the Facebook group Scrimping on a Budget, she explained: "Stick antiperspirants can be super expensive - I was thoroughly shocked when I took one apart one day and seen the waste left in the bottom of a 'used' stick!"

Leanne had saved nine old Mitchum deodorants which she kept in her chest of drawers to make her clothes smell fresh.

But after realising just how much there was leftover in each stick, she decided to get her money's worth.

To begin with, the savvy woman scrapped out every bit of product with a toothpick and popped the shards of deodorant in a glass measuring jug.

Next, she popped it in the microwave for 45 seconds to melt it down and then poured it back into the empty deodorant container.

She added: "I managed three extra sticks out of nine used ones!

"Might not be a huge saving, but every little bit helps and my kitchen smells unreal!!"

Needless to say, the post racked up over 800 "likes" on the group and other members were blown away by the idea.

One gushed: "This is actually genius! I see some saving hacks and I'm like nah, but this one is really bang on."

Another added: "Thanks so much for this, I too hate to waste the bit at the bottom and now I don’t have to!"

Meanwhile a third wrote: "This is ace I never thought of doing that! I do this with all my candles the wax at the bottom sit the jars in pans of water boil it up until the wax has melted then I pour it into cake cases and make wax melts."
