New motion picture soundtrack for the film "Elvis" includes both covers and original hits from Presley himself. (RCA)

June finishes with a crush of hot new music releases, including one hot soundtrack and titles from Weezer, Jimmie Allen, Jack Johnson, Luke Combs, Tegan and Sara and more -- plus a new Beyoncé single (all subject to change)...

Album of the Week: There’s plenty of star power and provocative on the “ELVIS Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” (RCA), the companion to Baz Luhrmann’s new film about Elvis Presley (Austin Butler) and his manager Col. Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). The King himself is featured on many of the tracks -- mashing it up, posthumously, with Jack White, Tame Impala, Pnau and others -- while Eminem and CeeLo Green, Maneskin, Stevie Nicks and Chris Isaak, Jazmine Sullivan, Kacey Musgraves and more contribute both covers and original material. An aural experience that’ll likely leave you saying “thank ya very much”...

Album Title of the Week: Brian Jonestown Massacre, “Fire Doesn’t Grow on Trees” (A Recordings)

Did Ya Know?: The all-star Supersonic Blues Machine surfaces again with “Voodoo Nation” (Provogue/Mascot) -- and gets more than a little help from its friends this time out. The guest list includes Sonny Landreth, Blackberry Smoke’s Charlie Starr, Eric Gales, Joe Louis Walker, Ana Popovic, King Solom Hicks and others, all doing that voodoo that they do so well.
